Dear Hon Dr Schreiber,

I trust this message finds you well.

I hope this comment will receive your attention and that of your Department, on the serious and frustrating problem that the public is confronted with in dealing with DHA systems and procedures in obtaining card type identities and passport renewals.

My references herein relate to the Alberton branch of the DHA, but I assume and have been told that similar issues exist at most or all branches.

The problem and frustration is that for a long time and including today, it is impossible to obtain these items, and similarly impossible to schedule a future date.

The obstacles are ...

* At the branch the endless queues of people are told on intercom or loudhailer, that ONLY PERSONS WITH APPOINTMENTS in the queue will be serviced.
* When trying to book a future date online, the booking system provides for a date range selection that is limited to 26/12/2025, i.e. only approximately 1 month in advance during which there are no slots available, whether a DHA branch is selected or that of a participating bank branch.
* Then, there is no option on the date range selection to extend the calendar to include future months,

So in summary, there is presently no conventional way of obtaining these items, and no way of planning or scheduling it for a future date.

I understand that the branches may be overwhelmed by numbers at this point, but would recommend, at the very least, that the calendar selection function be opened up for future dates scheduling.

We need an urgent solution, PLEASE
