I noticed the National Lotteries falls under the DTI portfolio, and I saw your name as a DA representative at the Parliamentary Portfolio Committees.
What can ordinary citizens do to get a full forensic audit to be undertaken at the Lotteries Commission operated by Ithuba. I remember years ago, they were the first operators and then rumours were floating around that there was something "amiss", they were not awarded the contract on renewal, and for quite some time, there was no Lotto. I even battled to get money back from them as I bought tickets in advance for which there was no draw - I think it was during the month of April, but cannot remember the year though. Then a new operator - Gidani - was found and they carried on until once again, Ithuba was awarded to contract amidst some legal wrangling a short while ago.
Now I may add that I wrote many letters during the initial period Ithuba operated this, asking about Financial Statements and submitted a query about the "machines" they were apparently using. These came from different rows and there were definitely more than 20 machines in every one of these rows. When I asked to see the room where these machines (which should have been at least 60) were stored, I was rudely brushed off.
I have always maintained there is one machine and they just "bluff the people by doing a draw, producing which machine is used" and then that number or identification is used on that particular machine. There are certainly not a variety of machines stored somewhere.
What I would like to find out is when are their financial reports published - they refuse to give me that information. They just informed me it is published in the media.
I have also noticed a pattern developing!! NO BIG PRIZE, which results in a carry over of the funds, and the longer this goes on, the bigger that prize becomes, and of course interest spikes, and sales go through the roof. It is also noticeable how many times you get consecutive numbers (i.e. 5,6 or 13,14 or 27, 28 or 31, 32) or every second number following (i.e. 12,14, or 25, 27, 29 or 41, 43, etc.) and most times those are the draws which produces no BIG winner or in actual fact it does (very seldom).
Now I presume - and I am not a computer boffin - when the draw is going to be done, the specific combination(s) of numbers which have not been picked for that particular draw, can be established. There are apparently millions of combinations.
There is something so wrong and the rat I smell is what thousands of others are smelling.
It is also completely wrong that only the BIG Prize is being boosted when millions of people buy tickets, yet the smaller prizes never increase while they all paid for the increase!!!
I believe some journalists have been trying to get some answers but Ithuba is not answering any questions.
Please can you help me because I have now commented about this in my Facebook Group. I would like to see this through, but contacting them does not help at all.
Thank you
