Dear Fadiel Adams
Can you help me please. I am desperate. Time is running out....my daughter who's in Matric has been at home for just over a month. She got expelled from Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard. She attended there, along with her 3 other siblings, through the discount her father gets because he works at the school as a maths teacher. And she got expelled, because she asked her friends and their parents for money....unbeknownst to us as her parents, she'd tell them it's to help us because we were struggling really bad financially....to buy food and electricity with. She in turn used the money to buy stuff she needed for school, to help topup her and her siblings bus tickets and now and then she'd buy bread, eggs, electricity etc.
However, I once asked her where she got the money from and she'd tell me she got it from her grandmother.
However so the school saw it as blackmail and extortion. And subsequently expelled her.
When her friends found out about her expulsion(the same friends she asked money from), they went to the school deputy and principal to beg and ask them to give my daughter another chance. However so, the deputy in turn, told them that she’s sticking to her decision. She also shared with them that we weren't really struggling. And because we lived in Tableview, we're not struggling because it's an upmarket area....she also shared with them that since my husband works at the school, he gets a hefty salary, so they don't need to feel sorry for my daughter.
My husband in turn also got a final written warning because the school believes we as her parents knew what she was doing. We really didn't know.
Now my daughter has been at home just over a month, tried to commit suicide, as she believes that our lives would be better without her in it. My daughter made a mistake. She's not an unruly child. She's loves soccer and was looking forward to play pro....now, she’s just sleeping all the time, wanting to die....
Please help? We have tried to get her into other government schools but they say they have a policy of not accepting Gr 12 students. From Melkbos to Seapoint high, to the northern suburbs, no one wants to or can take my daughter in at their school. Please help I'm getting desperate 🙏 😭 🙏
My daughter is depressed, she's not eating anymore. And she believes that she's a failure. She's really good at soccer. She excels academically. She made a mistake out of desperation because we were struggling financially. Please, please help us help our daughter complete her school career and help us find a school that would take her in. Please someone help us find a school for my daughter. From a desperate, desperate mother....
Kind regards,
Samantha Waterboer-Kotze.
