Good day, Mr. Emam,
I have been tracking the matters of Regional Court President of KZN, Mr. E Nzimande and am grateful to you for following up on this by means of a question to the Minister of Justice. With respect his replies are, to say the least, wishy-washy and unconvincing. Further I am lead to believe that the Magistrates` Commission has already appointed a presiding officer and evidence leaders so the further delays are inexplicable. In two month`s time Mr. Nzimande will have been suspended for five years!
All attempts to find out from the NPA as to the delay in prosecuting Mr. Nzimande criminally have drawn a blank in that I am being stonewalled. Their reference number is 10/2/12/3-103/2019 and the police reference is Durban Central CAS 1301/03/2017.
In the interests of the administration of justice in South Africa I would be most grateful if you could make enquiries directly from Ms. Batoyi as to the inexplicable delays in commencing the criminal prosecution. I suspect that the NPA may be shielding Mr. Nzimande from prosecution.
Thank you,
Mr. T Levitt
