Good Morning Minister

I hereby would like to lodge a complaint against 2 sergeants that came to fetch me from work on Friday. They called me on Thursday the day that I was off, and was at doctor's, but I could not talk as I had to go to consultation room, and at that time I did not know who it was. Few minutes later my supervisor called me to tell me that there people looking for me, and they needed my address, I was checked as I had not expected anyone, and I could not think of anyone who would go to my workplace to want my address. They then agreed to come the next day as I was scheduled for work that day.

The next day Friday the 8th October they came with 2 other men, one of which was a Bolt driver who drove the car I used on Friday the 1st. They asked me for the things I stole from Bolt the previous Friday, and I answered that I never stole anything from anyone. They asked me to unpack my bag which I did. They then said that they are taking me to a police station. First we had to pass by the lady who had apparently lost her things at in the Bolt car. We met with her in Sandton mall. They asked her there to identify her things from the things I had in my bag, which apparently were airpods and a lipstick. I had my own airpods which she confirmed were not hers, and also confirmed that none of the lipsticks I had were hers. However she claimed that i had changed the airpods as hers were original and mine were fake, which I'm very much aware of. I bought mine from Pakistan shops about 3 months ago. When I tried to give my statement the police literally said I should shut up, and that I was annoying as they were driving to Randburg police station with me. They never allowed me to say anything or question anything. They kept telling me that I am going to be detained for the weekend, and that the case is strong against me, and that it was 2 against one, whereas it was the first time the lady and I met. Hearing them saying that, I phoned my boyfriend narrating the story to him, and asking him to go to my place after knocking off to check on my kids as they were left alone, they then said to me..."go ahead, call anyone, even the President himself or Bheki Cele, you are spending the weekend in the holding cells. We got to the police station, they treated me so badly saying that I'm a thief and that I'm spending my weekend in the holding cells. I have never been so humiliated in my entire life. They were saying that I disrespected them, and that I was rude when I asked why am I not given a chance to speak. One ot those policemen smoked inside and I started coughing as cigarettes doesn't sit well with me, then he said " you guys don't mind me smoking right", while he was puffing.

He then said to me I have 2 hours to get a lawyer who will get me out of there so I can spend my weekend at home, and go to court on Monday. I had no idea where to even start as I have never been in a situation like that before. I phoned around and fortunately my boyfriend knew one lawyer. He called me and asked what had transpired. I told him everything, he then asked why did they take me because the lady confirmed the things I had were not hers. I said I don't know. But unfortunately he was in Polokwane and could not assist as he was far. He referd me to another whom I had to pay R4500 to get me out. While I was waiting for him, they took me to a holding cell. I have never seen such a dirty and cold place my whole life. I only got out when the lawyer arrived.

Minister I am very distressed by these police treatment, one of whom is Sergeant Moloto, not sure about the other ones name, who was the rudest. I also sent Bolt an email telling them their driver who accused me of stealing his previous passenger's things after she had called him claiming she lost some stuff in his car. Bolt confirmed that the guy did not report a matter to them which is a process the driver must follow, and that driver shared my number with other people without my permission which violated the disclosure act, and that the number he has been calling me with is not the number he registered his account with.
