Dear Deputy Minister Holomisa,
I listened and studied the Ministers Budget speech, and I have the follow question which I really would appreciate some clarity. I am hoping that you woudl be able to assist us.
DMV DATABASE REGISTRATION– The Minister stated “we need to deal with the challenges associated with the verification and database for military veterans”. Please may the Minister state:
a. What was the number of veterans listed on the database when the DMV was established with a breakdown per Force
b. What are the number of veterans currently listed on the database with a breakdown per Force
c. What are the current outstanding applications that still have to be processed?
d. How many applications have not been acknowledged within the stated 30 days as per the DMV regulations
e. What are the reasons why the DMV is currently stating to veterans whose applications have been acknowledged as received, will be finalised within 6 or 12 months or before end 2025 and is this accepatable
f. As over 1,6 million force numbers were issued by DOD, what is the planning number of Military Veterans that the DMV is working on for benefits
g. Surviving members of a deceased Military Veteran only have one year to claim the burial benefit, however, to claim this they need to apply to be registered on the database first which takes so long, how is this going to be fast tracked in future.
Future replies will be published here.
