Your honorable Bhekicele, I write to you with a heavy heart pertaining criminality at Messina. As a resident of Messina and a citizen, I can not standby and watch this decay.
Police and traffic copes, civil copes and private security forces in our small town but a busy income generating hub is now, as I speak an income generation project for the law enforcement agents dining and wining with local gangsters and thiefs.
Our visitors across the river Limpopo who order goods and groceries as well as local shop owners in town are robbed at gun every day under law enforcement agents watch. No arrests are made even when criminals are known. The spoils are shared amongst the enforcement agents and the gangsters. The other sector of gangsters include those who claim to own town spaces.. They call these their bases. Any who buys from any shop and prepares to load their goods must pay them between R200 plus. These drive around in town collecting money from people who buy goods. On refusal to pay them they either assault you or threaten, you intimidate you and forcefully grab any of the items as payment or forcefully search money from the pockets or purses. No action is taken by law agencies. Why because they share the spoils with the law enforcement agents.
I wonder if Messina is another country in South Africa. It's as if we are on our own. My request your honorable is that you transfer all the law enforcement agents from the civil agents to the police to the traffic agents. Have afresh staff for Messina. Latter introduce a rotational system to avoid the new to build the ampires around them again.
I thank you.
