Good afternoon,

Why when a senior lady of 85years old passes away/on, is her Spouses marital status automatically not changed to Widow.
My father in law of 89 passed on, on Monday and has a daughter of 61. The death certificate was issued, even though the completed form showed Widow, as Married. Now the daughter has to take her mother's death certificate to home affairs to have it corrected, that is an inconvenience to us, it should be automatic when 1 passes on.
As members of your PARTY, is there other way to sort this out, in the various memos about this mishap, it seems to be a regular occurrence that family members in mourning have to go stand in queues at home affairs because of a simple error by Home Affairs. It affects their estate and other matters under normal circumstances that are now going to be delayed. Family come from all around the world for the reading of the will and nothing can be done if the Death Certificate says Married when in fact it should be WIDOW/WIDOWER.

Please advise how this matter can be resolved

Regards
