Dear Minister Lindiwe Sisulu

Subject : Mama Albertina Nontsikelelo Sisulu Memorial Lecture

SASCO is the biggest student movement in Africa. It organizes students in institutions of higher learning striving for the transformation of not just institutions of higher learning but the whole system in order to achieve a non-sexist, non-racial, working class biased and democratic education system. It seeks to ensure the destruction of capitalist relations of production and the ushering of a socialist society in higher learning.

The South African Students Congress champions the interests of students and seeks to ensure access and success in these institutions, by fighting for (1) more and better accommodation, (2) more computer labs, (3) more and better-equipped libraries, (4) lower costs of education etc. SASCO achieves seeks to achieve these through mobilizing the broadest sections of students and rallying them behind the call for FREE HIGHER EDUCATION and mobilising them to build a better life in South Africa for all.

Sasco also hosts political programmes and leadership programmes for the benefit of UNISA students. This year, for Women’s month, SASCO UNISA Port Elizabeth has planned a Memorial Lecture : Mama Albertina Nontsikelelo Sisulu. Looking at our history , the political state in SA and where we are going , it is befitting to remember the values and principles of Mama Sisulu. We have felt there is no other , speaker , guest and family that can best share on the life of Mama Sisulu and what lessons can women draw from her as we build a better South Africa and better youth in South Africa.

Please kindly receive our invitation in humility and kindly make a response.
Date : 23 August 2019 (Friday)
Time : 14h00-17h00
Venue : UNISA Port Elizabeth, Corner of Cape Road and Greyville Road.

“We are each required to walk our own road and then stop, assess what we have learnt, and share it with others. It is only in this way that the next generation can learn from those who have walked before them. We can do no more than tell our story. Then it is up to them to make of it what they will.” - Ma Sisulu
