I can see following scenario, if we are not implementing the right things to do.
First Sourh Africa is not England! England has no townships, no informal trading as we know it.
Following scenario could happen:
In the first week of the Lockdown, Townships like Atterideville, Soweto, Khayelitsha, etc. run out of food, because Street Vendors are not allowed to trade. Also people run out of money to buy the food as they cant work, as well food reserves in the household are getting depleeted.
The lack of Alcohol and cigarettes makes people very agressive, no more understandig for why Lockdown could be good for them?
In the second week, people of the most poorest areas are now very much hungry, because Goverment did not set up any plans to feed, neither any logistics for the most vulnerable.
In the third week we will see first attacks on shops, that still have food by small groups of criminals. Especially the foreign shop owners are going to be targeted.
The riot police gets in tryring to contain the violence, but they have not enough manpower to control the gangs.
The army gets deployed, first shoot outs happen, Marikana calling, buildings getting burnt down, food trucks get robbed in full daylight.
In the following weeks the war against the criminal gangs, hungry citicens in is in full swing, all shops that carry food items are getting looted, all food factories are closing because workers are afraid to come to work.
Than, total Anarchy, the Goverment is clueless, the country as we know it is finished.
Tell me not to worry!
