Dear Mr. Steenhuisen,
I write to you not just as a lifelong DA supporter, but as a deeply concerned South African who has always championed our country as a premier destination for tourism and investment. Today, however, I find it increasingly difficult to do so. I am burdened what the future holds for us and am compelled to write this to you. I would appreciate a response providing assurances please.
It is no secret that the voice of the opposition has been weakened, and the ANC’s political maneuvering has pushed South Africa to the brink—racial divisions are deepening, lawlessness is escalating, and many property owners feel abandoned and alienated. The DA, once the undeniable voice of accountability and reason, has lost the trust of many voters. This is not just concerning—it is alarming.
I am urging you to act decisively. The country is crying out for leadership that is unwavering, bold, and unafraid to challenge the status quo. The Government of National Unity cannot become a vehicle for complacency; it must serve as a platform for real change. Right now, South Africans need reassurance that the DA is not merely a participant in government but a force actively steering it towards accountability, economic stability, and national unity.
Investors are watching. Citizens are watching. And many, including myself, are struggling to convince international stakeholders that South Africa is a viable and safe investment destination when our leaders fail to take visible and resolute action.
We need you to speak up. We need you to fight, not just behind closed doors, but openly, so that people can see that the DA remains the party of strong leadership and integrity. Show us that our faith in you has not been misplaced. Address the growing disillusionment, restore confidence, and make it clear that South Africa’s future is not one of decline, but one of renewal.
I appreciate what you have done in the past and have immense respect for your role, but today, we need the DA to step up more than ever. This is not the time for hesitation—this is the time for leadership. I trust the fighting indomitable John Steenhuisen we all came to trust will stand resolute to provide us of answers. Reassure us please, I beg of you Minister Steenhuisen to heed our call.
Kind regards
Gavin McInnes
