Greetings Honourable Members

I hope that you are all well.

I am writing to you on as the deputy chairperson of civic organisation (Gubevu branch) on behalf of my community.

We have lodged a claim (19 years ago),we were claiming to also be compensated as we are also victims of forceful removals by the apartheid government,it is sad that, after all these years,we are not given any hope by the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform that we will ever receive what rightfully belongs to us.

The claim committee that the community nominated has been to the department's East London branch for many times in this past nineteen years following this claim but the claim is still stuck in its 3rd stage out of six stages, some of that committee members passed away as they aged and some resigned as they got tired of carrying community hopes.

As the community members,we took the matter in our own hands, several times,we wrote e-mails and sms's to Mr Nkwinti while he was still minister there,we asked him to intervene and we asked him to come meet the people but unfortunately,he ignored us until he got a new position. We have written to Claims Commissioner,We have written to former president Zuma's office,we have written to the human rights commission,we have been to Public protector's office in Bhisho, all promised to follow up but here we are looking up in the sky still.

We have trying to find Minister Mashabane's direct e-mail address but it is not yet updated,we wrote to Nomava Notshe who in the minister's office, she is ignoring our e-mails no matter how many we send.

We kindly (though we lost patience) request that this 19 year old claim be prioritised as some communities received their monies within three years of lodging.

It would great for the remain elderly people in our community to die knowing that the claim has been settled.

Future replies will be published here.
