Hon Minister Jackson Mthembu
Re: INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE AT THE AFRICAN AGRI INVESTMENT INDABA 2019
The potential for growth in African food and agriculture is well documented, however realizing the continent’s full agricultural and food potential will require significant investment. Sub-Saharan Africa will need eight times more fertilizer, six times more improved seed, at least $8 billion of investments in basic storage (not including cold-chain investments for horticulture or animal products), and as much as $65 billion in irrigation to fulfill the industry promise. Further investment will be needed in basic infrastructure, such as roads, ports, and energy, plus improvements in policies and regional trade flows according to a recent Mckinsey report.
For the past three years, the African Agri Council (AAC) has hosted the African Agri Investment Indaba (AAII), in partnership with African governments, agencies and private sector players to bring top executives, financiers, investors, project owners and policy makers together to discuss trends that influence food and agribusiness economics and investment landscape over the next decade in Africa. The past three Indabas combined strategic presentations with investment pitches, pre-arranged meetings, workshops and an interactive exhibition floor to allow international participants, representing the entire food and agriculture value chain, to conduct real business.
The African Agri Council hereby invites Honorable Minister Jackson Mthembu, the minister in the presidency as a VIP Guest the African Agri Investment Indaba taking place from 19 – 20 November 2019 at the CTICC in Cape Town South Africa.
The development of food and agriculture is key to the transformation and growth of African economies – your participation and support will contribute to shaping interventions and conversations that will translate into action, results and impact in South Africa.
Sincerely,
Mzamo Jika
