Dear Deputy Minister Cassim,
I am writing to congratulate you on your recent appointment as the Deputy Minister of Higher Education. As a young and vibrant leader who has been a trailblazer in student leadership and parliament, you represent a generation that truly understands the rhythm of the modern world and the massive shifts happening in technology.
Because you understand the modern landscape, I want to urge you to champion huge improvements in our education department by directly integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and modern digital tools into our higher education framework.
Technology is moving faster than ever, and our institutions need to evolve so that South African students aren't left behind. We need leadership that can bridge the gap between traditional learning and the digital economy—whether that means updating curriculums to include AI literacy, supporting tech-driven creative industries, or optimizing learning platforms for student success.
With your background and energy, you are in a unique position to drive this transformation and future-proof our universities and TVET colleges. I look forward to seeing the fresh, innovative perspective you will bring to this portfolio.
Warm regards,
[Sylvester Molautsi]
