Dear Mr. Schreiber
Firstly many thanks for the great work you have already done to make Home Affairs much easier to deal with.
Please could I ask you to get the Home affairs website updated. The so called hotline (0800601190) is either permanently engaged or not working. The SMS service no longer works and emails to the provided email addresses either go unanswered or bounce. (hacc@dha.gov.za) (Smart ID contact person: Steven.Nchabeleng@dha.gov.za)
For some reason the track and trace function for applications has also disappeared. I applied for my Smart ID 4 weeks ago and no contact from home affairs and no way of checking the progress. I went back to the Randburg home affairs office only to be told after waiting an hour that my card was still not there. People cannot keep taking time off to check if their ID card is available.
Many thanks
Steve Parkinson
