I have to let you know that I have tried for 4 months to get an appointment at a local office for passport applications.
Finally I got one in Potchefstroom NW ( i live in Lenasia GP ) and the appointment was from 11am to 12pm.
The laziness of the staff and the dont care attitude towards their jobs was apparent and I only got done at 2.30pm. IF the staff work better , the lines would move faster but the staff are not interested in serving the people.
The system is broke and it isnt getting better. By making the times 2 hours more the lazy staff will just collect 2 hours extra pay for doing no work.
Sir, you said you want to get the basics right ....... start with the appointment system and the queuing system at site.
BTW the Potch branch was open and they had a home affairs truck mobile office in the yard doing nothing. Deploy the truck to Lenasia where we need the service.
