Good day Mr Nzimande
Am crying out to you sir, because as a student teacher I don't have a voice. With the 300000 presidential jobs that was implemented last year by our President, student teachers were left in the dark. I applied sir but was not even considered. I am unemployed too and just because I am studying doesn't mean we as students should be deprived from getting the jobs that is in our study field. Sir, I am a Nsfas student and only get the once off book allowance. I am a single unemployed mother of two and finding a job at schools became a nightmare. Schools simply turn us away only because we are still students and come up with alot of excuses as to why they can't hire us. I am a third year Sace registered student at NWU and plead with you sir to help student teachers get placements at schools. Nursing students get exposure and they doing their bit to help the country through this pandemic, why can't student teachers also get the same platform of exposure, because we do need the experience as well as an extra income to stay alive. I have no formal income and rely on sassa grant every month and with the field in which am studying in, I can't seem to take up any job if its not in a school environment because of my studies and also practicals.
Please sir, help student teachers. The country needs us too.
Kind Regards
Xenia Geweldt
