Dear Hon Min Motsoaledi
I have applied for a new passport at the Windhoek SA High Commission middle March. My original one was stolen. I was informed it can take up to 8 months. I fail to understand in today's day and age and technology available that it can take 8 months compared to applying in SA it takes +- 5 days. When I applied I informed them that my father is 85 sickly and frail I need the passport urgent. I was told in no uncertain terms they can not speed it up. I did visit them a few times to just check by chance if my passport did not arrive. Same reply it can take 8 months. My Father passed away 16 June and I am stuck in Windhoek and not able to attend his funeral. I have tried to apply for an emergency one since 06 June and it was a challenge in itself. They accepted my emergency application yesterday and was told it will take +- 5 days to issue even after informing them my dad passed. I am sure you understand my frustration. I re-iterate again it is impossible for a passport to take 8 months to be issued. The excuses they offered were laughable and unacceptable to say the least.
Not to mention the cost I was charge R2400.00
