Good Day.
I would like to remain anonymous for the sake of my job and my security. I'm a man working at Neopak Rosslyn (Pretoria). I've been working for this company for over 10 years but what happen this year was unjust.
The company started around 1968 as Nampak, back then it was all men. as years go by they started employing women in all departments, which brings me to my problem.
We have 4 departments (PM1,PM3,DISTRUTION AMD BOILER HOUSE) All these departments have women at least one, but not the boiler house. Last year I think September the company outsourced the boiler house (Steam works Africa) and for the very first time the company had a woman in that department but she's also on contract.
Last month there were permanent post vacant for boiler operator. We not sure how many people who were interviewed for that position but apparently they all failed( including that girl) the next thing we know, they bring the multiskilled guy from another department who knows nothing about boilers and will be send for training in the next couple of weeks .
1. the lady has been working there for almost a year.
2. if she or any other guy who was there for an interview failed, how come they trust the same people to train their multiskilled guy.
3. All I want is gender equity at the work place.
You will ask why I never went to the union? That guy is being paid buy Indians so I don't trust him.
I'm pleading you to just have a look in this matter.
Regards
The fighter.
