We would like to engage with you and your dept urgently regarding the options available, and decisions made, in the final selection of the Raising of the Garden Route Dam and resultant cost associated with the methodology selected.
The project cost is estimated at approximately R25M plus another R3M for a coffee dam.
This is roughly 3x what it should be.
We are well informed as to the technical tender submissions done, and we believe, particularly in light of the dire state of DWS finances, that this may be a irresponsible and unnecessary spend.
We are willing to meet and expand on our reasons and also expand on the options available in terms of Dam safety, cost and speed of delivery of the project.
We insist that this decision must be thoroughly challenged.
