Dear Dr Nkabane

I am a first year student at the university of Pretoria. I reside in Mamelodi, Pretoria with my grandmother. I have no contact with any of my parents since 2018. This proved to be a challenge when it came to applying for NSFAS. Since, my aunt was able to help provide for me in my school years, my grandmother never took steps to report my mom missing or even for SASSA grant purposes. However my aunt lost her source of income last year and everything has been a challenge since. When it came time to apply for bursaries, I had applied for everything without luck. Even when I had tried to apply for NSFAS, they rejected my application for the lack of reason for my parents not being present. As I said, I have had no contact with them for almost 6 years.

I hope you can hear my grievance and help me. I have at this point, tried everything and I don't know where else to turn.
