Dear Mr Buthelezi
It is a pleasure to be in touch with you and I want to thank you very affectionately for your dedication to me and my Family in the book The Lighter Side of Life on Robben Island.

It was very exciting to see paragraphs that are pieces of your life and your youth. Even more surprising is the human warmth with which you relate the vicissitudes with your cellmates, the games, the anecdotes of your writings, the television and many, many instances that during your narration seemed to me living with you in situ. Life has rewarded you with an incredible Family that supported you and believed in your cause. I have the great satisfaction of knowing your Sister Mrs Phumelele Gwala who has a special admiration for you and I would like to have a sister like her.
In a very sincere way I want to send you a big hug and I hope that someday I can personally give it to you, since it is a legitimate feeling of brother of this land.
