I understand that on the 6th March the National Assembly will be voting for or against the Legalising of Online Pornography. There exists well documented evidence of the extensive physical, psychological and social harms of pornography.
May I respectfully ask you to consider the following before voting on the 6h:
1. The definition of prohibited "obscene material" called the "XX" classification in the Films and Publications act of 1996 must not be watered down as this will result in making more vile types of Pornography and degrading material legally distributable in South Africa.
2. The online distribution of hard core Pornography called "X18" material in the Act must not be legalised, especially not without a credible and official investigation into the impact of Pornography on South African society. (As stated in my introduction)
Please vote against the Legalising of Online Pornography.
With Sincere thanks
