Good day Department of Basic Education

Kindly note if the intention of the new curriculum is to remove all originating history nationally and internationally its a serious mistake as this is the 21st century and with global migration SA citizens are traveling and relocating in the world.
I have perused your new curriculum. The Grade 4 input reads like Life Skill as flagged by an educationist in my family..
A historical perspective should map significant periods in history both locally and globally, of leaders, icons and governance - progressive and regressive. There were important currents of history on the 20th century that learners need to know and understand. The different continents outline different historical experiences politically, economically, socially, culturally and global cooperation is an imperative for now and moving forward.
An African perspective in decolonising education must retain the threads of these historical perspectives to foreground analysis of present day developments in the first 26 years of this century. It is imperative to understand the past conflicts and international solidarity to build education and economic systems and take a country forward.
As Western imperialism wanes with the rise of the Global South and new monetary systems - a serious rethink of this new curriculum on foregrounding an understanding of environmental issues, continuing conflicts, gender and human rights, crime and corruption is appreciated.
