Good Evening Minister

It is of frustration to have my child aged 5 expelled from school due to term 2 school fees that is unpaid.

I received a letter dated 11th July 2019, written by Mrs Williams (Secretary) under instruction of Ms Van Der Given or Heather Dale Primary School, Athlone, Cape Town.
The content of the letter was that I should keep my child at home as I did not pay the fees and bring her back when I have money. Efforts were made to enter into an arrangement to pay the outstanding fees not later than the 21st July 2019 and have explained my financial position in which was refused by the principal. I did not refuse to pay the fees but the matter was dealt with inattentively that my child be excluded to receive her rights to get Education by your employee. Ms Van Der Hoven mentioned that she is not the only child summoned to be kept at home due non payment of fees. People go through all sorts of scenarios/issues which we cannot compare to others.

She has promised to get the Social Worker involved if I don't keep my child at home as she will kept out of the class.

I've have went through the Schools Act and not throughout and found no clause in that that states that the learner regardless of the grade they in should be excluded in the class due to non payment of fees. I understand that I'm obligated to pay fees and willing to do so.

I feel my child has been exposed to emotional abuse by Ms Van Der Hoven and the school secretary Ms Williams. Being promised to be reported to Police and Social worker intervention because I'm fighting for my child's right to education is the waste of the State's Resources.

If failing my child is to fight for her educational rights as per Ms Van Der Hoven is the route I have to travel, I will let let it be.

Please assist as my child is missing out on her class work.

Thank You
