Sir, I would hereby like to know how was it possible for a Union of workers to sobotage a Strategic entity and succeeded in causing widespread power outages Saturday. What preventative measures were taken to counter this upcoming illegal strikes during the week leading up to this unwarrented and undeservid inconvenience suffered by the majority of us South African citizens. ESKOM management was cleary unable to deal with it through obvious incompetence.
Why then was the Government not asked to intervene and deploy the SA Defence Force to protect: 1) All the Power Stations against any vandalism
2) Escort coal delivery trucks to and from distribution and delivery points
3) This would have eased the burden on the police to deal with these delinquents and make the necessary arrests.

Why are the Unions not being held liable and fined substantially for not controlling their members as this might act as a deterrent in the future and send a clear message to all other Unions to walk softly. Here I specifically refer to Prasa and Health Services to name but a few.

It is totally unacceptable this daily anarchy reigning in our country unabated and unchallenged, so it seems from the citenries perspective

What strategy does the DA have to challenge these points of concern in Parliament and come up with workable proposals and implement same in the shortest possible time.

Sincerely
Johan Pretorius
