Dear Honorable Minister
l surrendered my South African Identity book obtained illegal during the Zimbabwe Documentation Project (DZP) in 2010. I then in 2015, applied for a Permanent Residence permit in terms of the provisions of Section 26(b) (marriage) of the Immigration Act No. 13 of 2002 as amended to a South African citizen spouse which was granted in January 2018. I immediately applied for a new South African identity document based on the section which my Permanent Residence Permit was granted that was in February 2018 and the application was captured on the same day with Reference number 00058619459.
I have been following up on the progress of the application and response l am getting is that my application is at the investigation team since 6 March. I just wanted to find out what this means and how long does this process takes and exactly what is being investigated given the fact that l surrendered the previous Identity Book l had.My new identity document application is on hold and l am not getting any answers.
The Central Law Enforcement of the Department of Home Affairs gave me a confirmation letter stating that my previous Identity document was surrendered with Reference Number Z4/YCW/171637
