Good day Sir

I am writing this email from a broken heart of a citizen who was failed of service at the Dobsonville police station today the 22/08/2021.

I went to the police station to request to be assisted to open a case of theft and indicated that the person who stole who is my son is busy selling things at the mall and I have seen him as I was parking. When I got there a police officer by the name of Matlala who was on duty told me to wait outside. I waited for 5 minutes then told to go sit inside. There were 4 police officers: 1 was assisting a client, Matlala and the other officers (male and female) were busy certifying documents. I asked what does one have to do to get help from the station as it was not the first time I got this treatment. They told me I don’t have a right to complain as I have only been in the police station for 10 minutes. I indicated that I will report to the provincial and they said I can go ahead and see if I will be assisted.

My question to your office are:

1. What is the purpose of police officers at the station if they cant assist with crime related issues?
2. Are they only assigned to certify documents when on duty?
3. Does the police station operate with 4 officers in the front with only 1 assigned to open cases?
4. Are batho pele principles not applicable to police officers, as I did not receive any from the arrogant officers who were there
5. Should a person die first to be able to get service?

Their arrogancy was on another level for a public servants. I would like for your office to address this matter as I preferred writing to your office rather than going to the media to expose the non-competency of your personnel.

Your response in this regard will be appreciated
