Dear Nathi
Hope all is well.
I have a fully fledged school renting space in Auckland Park and now have the ability to pay to acquire their own space or alternatively lease space with the option to buy.
Space in Waterval (region B) has been ear-marked, which only has a cricket pitch. We've had no traction from the below departments trying to acquire the space.
Divisions we've liaise with:
- Johannesburg Property Company; submission for acquiring space, and they've lost the submission. They advised to wait 16 months as the land is being circulated but they are unable to state where it's sitting.
- City Parks Johannesburg; explained they manage the space and don't have a say with the leasing or purchasing
- Department of Sports, Art and Culture; the current owners of the Waterval space/land, not supplying sufficient details
- David Hensman; advised to look at acquiring private space instead (which the schools hesitant to do)
The school is willing to enhance the cricket pitch and possibly add further sporting facilities which will be kept open for public use. Its sad that a massive development opportunity within an area is being treated with no importance.
Hope you're could shed some assistance.
Many thanks
Eckard
