Dear Mr Schreiber,

I would like to escalate a matter of the department's failure to issue a first time ID within the prescribed 2 month period.
My sister applied for an ID at the Paarl office last year and was issued with an ID almost a year later in Aug '26 which incorrectly identified her as a male when she is not. She reapplied from scratch on the very same day and has been following up on the application since. Your department confirmed the cancellation of the incorrect ID but says they have not received the new application. How can a document with such an error be missed by more than one official? And why is the Paarl office delaying posting her application to PTA?

She tried applying from a different branch today to no avail. Please can you investigate this matter as this has been an emotionally draining process hence why I am writing on her behalf.
