I’m contacting you because, despite your public statement that naturalised citizens are now eligible to apply for Smart IDs, I was declined when attempting to do so in Cape Town.

I booked an appointment through FNB - after a difficult process to secure one—and was turned away on the basis that naturalised citizens are still not eligible. This contradicts what you announced and has left me frustrated and without clarity.

Please confirm what the actual status is, and if your statement still holds, advise who I need to escalate this to in order to get it resolved.
