We like to introduce our self to you, We are 380 Overseers who work under Department of Transport doing road maintenance at the whole of Kzn pronvince.We are the Supervisors , who supervising the Programme called ZIBAMBELE Road Maintenance Programme.We like to ask you for your help about the griviences we have bout this department. In 2008 We get a Learnership from Department of transport.They accommodate us and give us stipend of R3,500 and they promised us that when we're graduated they will take us to work permanent at department.We graduated 2010 for Qualification of NQF level 2 and Level 4 because some of us have Maths And Science.From 2012 the department took us to assist them to Zibambele because of the Audit Record that was 17 percent and that was lead to close the whole programme of Zibambele. Although we were 150 at learnership the Department add more people because of shortage of supervisors within the department then we became 380 we worked under consultants and get the stipend of R4,500 monthly till today with no bonus And the permanent supervisors who do the same job like us get R18,500monthly.2017 December they terminated our contract and they told us that the consultants will be no longer the part of department anymore. Consultants were claiming the lots of money from department. We Berg them to take us again because we are the bread winners to our families.On the15th of March 2018 they took us back and we signed the contract with the Department . They instructed all of us to buy Bukkies car so that will perform our duties because we are not allowed to use department cars. It was difficult because there was no Garage wanted to give us bukkies with salary of R4,500 but we tried by all means because we were desperate for jobs and we had no other choices. They paid this vehicle with the kilometer we travelled monthly which is 1750km.Then on the 1st of March 2019 they renewed the contract which ends on September 2019.The reason to ask for your help is that the inform us that the contract will be not renewed and they will terminate us on persal because we joined Union. THEY FORCE US TO SIGN 2 YEARS CONTRACT WITH CONSULTANTS AGAIN THEY SAID AFTER THIS TWO YEARS WE Will STAY HOME FOREVER. MIND YOU THEY SAID CONSULTANTS WILL BE NOT THE PART OF THE DEPARTMENT ANYMORE, AND THE CONSULTANTS WILL NOT GIVE OR PAY US THE KILOMETER FOR OUR VEHICLE ANYMORE.THE QUESTION IS HOW ARE WE GOING TO PAY FOR THIS VEHICLE WHICH WE BOUGHT INSTRUCTED BY THE DEPARTMENT THOSE CARS ARE 5YEARS INSTALLMENT AND WE ONLY PAID ONE YEAR .WHY THEY TOOK US OUT OF PERSAL ?

Last year September We had a Meeting with Mr Gumbi HODof the department and Mr Nkosi the Director of the department ,They promised to keep us on department till we got permanent post because we serve the programme and audit report is clean. Can u please help us about this matter they can't use TAXPAYERS money to train us and through us away. We were Young while we started to this department now we above 40years ,who will employ us? Our public protector your the one who can help us find answers we looking for from the department of transport. The constitution of South Africa will not support this, And the Law will not allow people to work for more than 7years with R4,500 stipend with no benefits.The government of our organization always says they will create job opportunities.
