Good Day Mr. Schreiber,
I am in the process of applying for a replacement passport as my current passport will expire in July 2026.
As someone who travels yourself I am sure that you are aware that visa applications all require a passport with more that 6 months validity after your return date.
I am applying with enough time for processing so that I will hopefully receive my new passport by February when I need to apply for my visa for travel later in the year as my current passport will not be valid for the visa application.
I am being charged R1200 instead of R600 for a passport application!
Is this the Department of Home Affairs or the Department of Daylight Robbery and Extortion?
This is ludicrous and I have Googled and discovered that many South Africans are being strong-armed into paying an additional R600 for being pro-active and responsible citizens and applying timeously for their passports to give the blessed DHA enough time to process them!
What a shame and a sham, I will be taking this issue to social media, 702 and our newspapers!
