As per the President's message to the public, all people in the front line of this terrible virus, like our government officials, police and army were to assist the public without being abusive or rude or aggressive. We were attending to essential plumbing services for Insurance Companies and had three staff on duty with a marked vehicle, masks, gloves and all the correct paperwork. On Saturday they were stopped by the police and documents checked and found to be in order. On Sunday morning, they were arrested and we reached out to our DA Councillor for some assistance. We explained the story to her and I also told her that our three staff members were locked in a cell with numerous people and no social distancing. I sent her my husband number and she called him and said, "listen to me darling", in such a sarcastic tone, "if your paperwork is not in order there is nothing I can do to assist you." I have various voice messages from her and as a public servant , they are nothing short of disgusting. Her rudeness is so insulting and her lack of empathy is nothing short of sad. We will never vote for the DA again and I am not surprised that South Africa has no official opposition party. I have not mentioned her name as this would be deemed by me as unprofessional so I would really appreciate someone in the DA Leadership contact me for a copy of voice notes and further information regarding the lack of assistance and service and above all, the rudeness experienced by us.
