Dear Zwelini,
We are partners of SinoVac and will manufacture 50 million doses of the CoronaVac vaccine for the Republic of Turkey. Brazil has also just ordered in 46 million doses, Indonesia an additional 100 million and the Philippines over 50 million doses. Chile, Hong Kong, Ukraine, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and Egypt are other countries that have recently signed deals for the vaccine.
The Phase III trials have concluded in Turkey, Brazil, Indonesia and Philippines with 91.4% efficacy rates. Other results will begin to circulate in the coming weeks but these countries have already begun the procurement process based on these results to get ahead of their respective vaccination programs.
I understand your concern if South Africa will have enough COVID-19 Vaccines as there becomes a global rush to purchase them from various countries.
Our proposal is to partner with South Africa and help bring the SinoVac vaccine to your country. We would welcome the opportunity to work with you and your country to begin its rigorous scientific review for CoronaVac. Since South Africa can start receiving, storing COVID vaccines before they are officially approved for use, we would assist in the production and delivery to begin stockpiling the necessary doses for the 28 million population.
Please let me know if this is of interest to you and we can follow up on the necessary next steps.
Thank you.
