Sir / Madam

REQUEST FOR COVID-19 RELIEF TO ESTATE AGENTS & AGENCIES FROM THE EAAB FIDELITY FUND

As you are well aware, Estate Agents and Estate Agencies across South Africa has been very hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, being unable to generate income from property sales. Furthermore, existing business did not materialize due to the closure of the Deeds’ Office and the fact that no property transfers are able to register.

It is also no secret that, prior to the pandemic and the lockdown, property sales dropped severely due to land-grab rumours and the changes expected to the disowning of land without compensation drive of government, combined with poor consumer confidence and slow economic growth in South Africa.

Small estate agencies have been the hardest hit, trying to make ends meet without having the luxury of decreased business costs or alternative income revenues. This pandemic might be the last straw for many a struggling estate agency / business, who, without getting financial assistance, might not survive.

In the meantime, estate agents have faithfully contributed to the EAAB Fidelity Fund annually, paying their CPS fees, etc, etc.

I would like to strongly urge you to consider assisting estate agents / estate agencies by means of financial assistance from the EAAB Fidelity Fund.

I know that I speak for all role players in the industry when I say, your serious consideration and speedy reaction will be highly appreciated in this matter.

Yours truly,
