Mhlontlo Local municipality is a rural municipality in the Eastern Cape within the OR Tambo District Municipality
In the recent audit report 18 municipalities received a clean audit reports which is not surprising at all.
Firstly in the Mhlontlo Local municipality the SCM manager Mrs Nosipho Mditschwa Budaza submitted a fake Matric certificate which has come to be common knowledge in the community and has come to the attention of the Municipal manager and no action has been taken. Secondly its common in the community that she has enriched herself through tenders and has even given her biological sister tender which has common to the attention of the manager through a letter from community members and the local business forum and yet the Municipal manager Mr Sotshongaye has not taken any action on the matter.This matter even appeared in the popular newspaper the daily dispatch.
Secondly the former Infrastructure Services Department director Mr Mase whos contract came to an end in January 2019 will be reinstated against the will of a majority of ANC council who know the corrupt dealings of Mr Mase ,who’s mother and family are involved in numerous construction tenders worth millions of rand.l am sure there are records to that effect in the municipality. Mr Mase who was shortlisted in the recent selection process for the position of ISD Director dispute no qualifying for the requirements has been part of a web of manipulating tenders.
