Dear Mr Andile Mngxitama
I hope you are well today
My name is John Reed, and I'm an aboriginal activist . I would like to address my issues of bad governance of the Concordia cpa and brief it to your attention, and requesting assistance with a section 11 of the cpa act.
LETTER TO NORTHERN CAPE PREMIER, DR ZAMANI SAUL To The Premier of the Northern Cape, Dr Zamani Saul Dear Mr Premier
RE: MINING AND OTHER ACTIVITIES IN CONCORDIA & THE CONCORDIA COMMUNITY
1. I am writing to you to request an audience with you, having had good reports from friends, advisors and the Concordia community about your commitment to good governance and your generally ethic approach to your life and position.
2. I am an activist, businessperson and have my roots, on my father’s side of my family, in the beautiful and historic town of Concordia.
3. I am attempting to assist my community to be empowered, preserved and developed sustainably, without external interference or being captured by foreign influences.
4. My interest in Concordia goes to the Marlin Granite mine, where olive green granite is being extracted for export from South Africa, which land forms part of my family’s land, which was taken from them by fraud in or about 1998.
5. The land has now been exploited for 25 years without my family receiving any compensation, rental or royalties. We wish to resolve this matter.
6. In the course of my engagement around my own family land I have become involved with the community of Concordia and will be involve with the community for the remainder of my life, as I have committed to assisting them.7. In this regard, it has come to my attention that recently, on 14 February 2023 a large, but as of yet unidentified, tract of land was transferred to the Concordia Communal Property Association. This is, in one sense great progress and to be applauded, albeit that it has raised a further issue, which is of immense concern.
8. This land is rich in copper, and there is a company known as Copper 360 who are seeking to extract this copper and exploit this resource for their own benefit, and who are engaging in the most nefarious and unethical, as well as patently unlawful tactics to get their hands on this resource.
9. It appears clear to me that, as with my family land being exploited by Marlin Granite, Copper 360 wish to take control of the copper resources through unlawful or manipulative means, and exploit it without regard for the community of Concordia.
10.At this point, Copper 360 are flagrantly exerting influence over the local ward counsellor, one Charlene Visser, and are clearly involved in corrupting other municipal officials, including the Concordia Speaker, as they are able to attend meetings with him about the counsellor, and are in fact invited to do so.
11. Copper 360 are also engaging in good old fashioned colonial divide and rule tactics, bringing people from towns to oppose us in our own town, which people have been influenced to support our town being mined for copper because people from other towns have been promised jobs. Given what I have been told by others about you, I do not believe that you fall within the category of people who support such deplorable tactics.
12. I seek a short meeting with you, at a place and time of convenience to you, as well as reasonably myself, in order to address the issues articulated in this letter.
13. I wish to assist both the community of Concordia, the province of the Northern Cape and yourself in your quest for good governance.
14. I look forward to your response.
