Dear Public Servants, I hope this message finds you well. I will post it here and on twitter to try get your attention to this matter :

I would appreciate your perspective on something that has been concerning me.

I believe that certain government ministerial positions —particularly those overseeing police, intelligence agencies, finance, health, agriculture, and home affairs—are too critical to be influenced by party politics. These positions require specialized expertise, professionalism, and impartiality to function effectively and serve all South Africans without bias.

The practice of appointing politicians to these sensitive roles, often based on loyalty rather than competence, undermines efficiency and compromises the quality of service delivery. It also increases the risk of corruption, politicization, and mismanagement.

Would it not be more effective and beneficial for the country if leaders of such positions were appointed through a merit-based, transparent process similar to how judges are appointed? (JSC) This would ensure that capable, experienced professionals—rather than political appointees—lead these departments.

I am curious about your thoughts on this matter, especially given your experience within the political system. Do you believe it is feasible for South Africa to implement such reforms, and if so, what steps could be taken to push for this change? As we can not move politicians around while they have no experience. What is Angie doing at the SANDF? We know her as an education minister but now she is in charge of our security as a nation.

Your response would be appreciated and I look forward to your insights
