Dear Siviwe Gwarube, I am inspired by your vision for improving education outcomes in South Africa.

I am truly passionate about improving education worldwide, and I believe South Africa could play a key role in achieving that aim. According to PIRLS, the SA education currently sits pretty much at the bottom of the international league tables, and I see that as a great opportunity to demonstrate what is possible.

I originally come from Iceland, currently Living in London, UK, but I used to live in Cape Town for 14 years. While there, I ran a small private school with other parents, which we eventually gifted to the current principal. (https://capellahouse.co.za/our-school/history-of-capella-house/)

I also set up the Davis Dyslexia Association Africa, for training and licensing Davis Dyslexia facilitators, offering lectures and workshops to parents, remedial specialists and educators explaining how to understand and unlock the gifts of neurodivergent individuals using the Davis methods. I relocated back to the UK a few years ago for personal reasons, and then handed over the management of Davis in Africa to my colleague Richard Whitehead, director of Davis UK and Ireland (https://www.davismethod.co.uk).

I would like a chance to explain to you how we can help you achieve your goal of dramatically improving education outcomes in South Africa within your tenure. I believe this can be achieved at the maximum cost of $1 per child per month. See a short video overview of our success so far. (https://youtu.be/BL-Q6xsMFoU?si=-ptyYg5HR6gZidC7)

If you give me 30 minutes of your time, I promise you will not regret that.

With best wishes,
Axel Gudmundsson,
director of Gifted Dyslexic (www.gifteddyslexic.com)
