Good day Vuyani
I hope you are well during this extra ordinary time. I'm the past days the EFF has made news headlines regarding a vote in the NCOP in which Thembinkosi Apleni, Brenda Mathevula and Sam Zandamela voted against party directives- as a proud gay man who is finding it increasingly difficult to see EFF as a political home I am hurt . The vote against my community was a breach of trust in the agreement the youth made when we voted EFF and gives the impression that the "pro-queer agenda of the EFF" is vote seeking to an extent. My issue Is that the vote was not a mistake and perhaps there is bias or prejudice on behalf the members in question
Are they not aligned, should they not have aligned themselves with the beliefs of the EFF?
Is there a greater issue at hand and is the queer community wholeheartedly welcome and respected.... ?
Is there there room for us in Azania ?
My question is because this law if it had failed in the NCOP, gay rights would have been pushed back a years and a mere apology doesn't make me confident that enough is being done.
Has a reason for the vote been given?
I look forward to hearing from you on how the queer community can begin to feel welcome and secure in the EFF ✊🏾
Regards
