Good afternoon, Mr. Pieter Groenewald.

I am feeling quite stressed about sending this email, as I am unsure where to turn since the corrections office never answers their phone. A family member of mine is a correctional prisoner in Johannesburg, and the one occasion I was able to contact her lasted barely a minute.

I was informed that I am absolutely not allowed to send any food or snacks; they must be purchased at the " Snoepie" Where are we, the people outside, supposed to find money for our family? I live in the Western Cape, and it is inhumane and nearly impossible for me to send money. Ive got a 2 Kids ( not that im complaining)

Why can't we send sugar and tea to our loved ones in prison?

I read in Maroela Media about how the food is insufficient and that it is being sold. If the inmates do not have money, they cannot buy food. How is it possible that "prisoners' food is traded"? - Maroela Media.

After reading the report, I was so upset that I felt sick. How can it be that the people inside suffer more than what is reported to the public ? When we see such things in the media, it makes one wonder.

Could I please request a list of items that can and cannot be posted? Can I send my family 's sugar and tea for her?
