Dear Minister
I am very concerned how many people are taking advantage of this grant.
The fundamental principle of this grant dates back to the last two world wars. Economies needed to support societies and encourage having children to build up economies.
Circumstances have changed dramatically since: This world cannot absorb more human beings and the related problems thereof: Pollution, unemployment, not sufficient clean water, housing etc. etc.
Our youth unemployment rate is already at unsustainable levels and having an outdated child grant does not solve our problems - in fact it creates a greater one.
May I suggest that the child grant is phase out as from 2022 and ending in 2040, when the last recipients will turn 18.
This is an annual massive saving for the government and finally the problem of overpopulation is addressed and citizens are being made aware of it.
Please help to educate our citizens and make South Africa a great country again!
Please honourable Minister, do the right thing!!
