I stay in Pretoria East where my daughter is in primary school. She is in a top school like most Pretoria East schools are. Almost all the learners pass, they get a great education even though its a public school. When I hear the pass rate at the end of the year for matriculants I get angry. There are a lot of schools getting left behind, a lot of learners. I have a suggestion. Ask the teachers from the top public schools to go help in the schools that are suffering, let them help and pinpoint the problem areas and fix them. Increase learning in these schools. These teachers must go out and be the example of what should be the standard of schooling, and pay these teacher very well, because it will be a huge sacrifice to leave the cosy suburbs and live in rural South Africa
