Dear Mr Seabi,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to formally bring to your attention the challenges I am currently experiencing with the National Housing Finance Corporation (NHFC) in relation to the First Home Finance Programme (previously FLISP), which was discussed during the Human Settlements Committee meeting held on 04 June 2025.
As highlighted in the Committee’s proceedings, there are ongoing concerns regarding system inefficiencies, delays in processing, and governance challenges within NHFC. Unfortunately, my experience reflects these exact issues.
Despite meeting the eligibility criteria and progressing through the required application stages, I have encountered the following challenges:
Significant delays in processing and feedback
Lack of clear communication or accountability from NHFC representatives
Administrative inefficiencies that have stalled my application without reasonable explanation
These challenges have had a direct impact on my ability to secure housing, despite the programme’s stated objective of assisting individuals in the “gap market.”
I am particularly concerned that the systemic issues raised during the Committee meeting—such as lack of automation, backlogs, and governance concerns—are not only theoretical but are actively affecting applicants like myself on the ground.
Given the Committee’s oversight role and its emphasis on accountability, transparency, and timely resolution of NHFC-related matters, I respectfully request:
Assistance in escalating my case for urgent review
Clarity on the current status and expected timelines for resolution
Assurance that corrective measures are being implemented to prevent similar challenges for other applicants
I believe that addressing individual cases such as mine can also contribute to strengthening the overall effectiveness and credibility of the First Home Finance Programme.
I am happy to provide any supporting documentation required and would appreciate any guidance or intervention your office can offer.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Yours sincerely,
A.Isaacs
