Dear Mr L.A. Schreiber,
I am writing to you as a last resort and in an effort to make you aware of the huge difficulties we have faced. My daughter has been trying to register her daughter's birth since she was born on 17-02-2025. The first attempt was at the Caledon DHA office within 30 days of birth. The subsequent attempts have been made after 30 days at Somerset-West, Wynberg, Bellville and Bredasdorp. The main obstacle seems to be the fact that the baby was born at home and attended to by a midwife. At each office different documents have been requested and excuses made for why the birth registration can not be completed. Even following all the advice given on the DHA website, consulting the official regulations as laid down by the birth registration act it seems impossible to register a baby with both parents being South African citizens.
If there is any way that this matter could be addressed I would be very grateful.
