Dear Mr George: We had a brutal attack on one of our residents on table mountain on Sunday July 6 around 11 am. International tourist arrivals/departures in the city is now over 3 million. Furthermore, of the 3.5 million disembarking in Johannesburg, perhaps quite a lot connect to Cape Town. Notwithstanding people being attacked leaving the airport (and car hire companies not being part of the solution to create awareness), we now have other criminal activities as well. If South Africa and indeed the continent intends increasing the tourist footfall, this matter deserves a wider audience, a proper strategy and a thorough action plan. We as a company remain part of the solution, but it does require Sanparks to work with the City, Tourism ministry involvement and a highly trained police force. We, as a country, already have an education deficit, let us change this for the future.
