My name is Bonga Gugushe originally from Alice, but currently reside in East London (BCM), I write this email very sad and disappointed with the correctional services and the saps, i have a brother by the name of Serame Gugushe who is attained and kept in the king williams Town correctional facilities after controvening his protection order that was lodged by my Mother who is also his biological mother, the reason she launched the protection order was because she feared him due to his violent behaviour towards her , this is after he became mentally disturbed and depressed after losing his twin brother, so it became difficult to send him to a mental health institution for rehibilitation and we are 100% sure that his not on drugs after multiple forceful tests he just needs psychiatric assistance and counselling as he has experienced alot of traumas icluding a job loss, unemployment and many family issues that black young people experience in this country, so my mother would call the saps but they would treat him as a criminal and arrest him even after my mom would ask for their assitance to take him to a mental health facility stating his condition and that he is not a criminal she just needs man power when he starts being aggresive as we live seperatley from each other, after she'd contact the saps they would just arrest him and throw him in prison which in my understanding all these departments including the saps, department of health, social development, etc, work hand in hand when it comes to such situations especially after an outcry by an elderly woman who has done so much for this country, after her plea for the saps to send him to a hospital they would only advice her to do a proctection order as if before their jobs they forget that they are also human beings which just complicates things, as majority of people already know and understand that these correctional services actually exist to entertain thugism , gangs and depression it is no more a place of rehibilitation when looking on the ground and being practical this is not what he needs and including the family because we know he is not a thug and has never been in prison, prison is for criminals.

Recently after a few visitation at the king williams town correctional services there is an outcry on his condition that he has become worse and is being bullied in the prison, his food being taken by inmates and lives in a bad condition in a cell that is dirty and with mentally disturbed people that are also not allowed to go for outside breaks we were also given that information by a family member who was also attained and saw him and was actually shocked and worried on his health and that they are treated like animals, My Mom had also visited and said she went there and he was very thin with a blue eye, showing that he had been beaten by inmates and his mental condition is worse, he is depressed and looks like an elder in his young age, imagine how a mother feels seeing her educated son that had alot of potential in that state should she be sane, i dont understand when the same officers see a person in that state what does the human heart and parently heart say to them or they are just dogs within their eyes or there is no passion in the work environment they work in, we call this country a democratic state that is led by the people which is ruled by a party that had said it will protect its citizens iregardless of where they are, the high earned taxes we pay that depress us each month but we have to experience such as if we are still colonized by the apartheid regime when we have all these tools available to assist us.

The correctional facilities mandates under the act no. 108 of 1996 in section 27 states that there has to be health care services in prisons, section 12 freedom and security and section 10 human dignity which is not what is happening towards my brother in that place, i was only called once by the facility a while ago since then they have been quiet, he was also released a while ago without our knowledge as a family being especially in his state where he even became lost where we searched and found him in the dangerous streets of East London under a bridge, if we had laid those chargers in our courts, which we are considering recently the department would challenge even when it is in the wrong.

It's time that our departments especially such core departments play a huge role in the public and the minister and leadership oversee such conditions people can't be dying,threatened and raped in prisons because of lack of willingness and proper leadership, i plea his case be attended but i also will not rest till justice is made if need be ill even reach the presidencies office or parliament this is our constitutional justice that we need and i will not rest i cant allow him to die just like a thug, we need dedicated employees in such departments,a young black mans life is cheap
