Good day
I am a resident in kenville durban. I just got a WhatsApp message of your voice note commending all the communities for taking a stand for themselves. Our community is trying the same. We however have a Councillor who left our community whatsapp group because the community members were challenging him on being inactive, complacent and just generally not in it with his heart to help those residents who care. We have broken roads that should have never broken. We have an ageing community due to children leaving this old district onto bigger cities. In this time we need a Councillor to be here or at least have a communication channel with us. He is absent. If not missing. He does not even live in our area. All the complaints voiced to him feel like they fall on deaf ears. Now in this time we need guidance. Our locals want to protect us but we are afraid of what should and should not be done so we aren't crossing any political lines. SAPS isn't responding. Security companies have left us for virtually dead. Everyone is pooling to durban north and we are on a lone hill forgotten. I have tried so many channels to get help. Everyone has. We are scared. A small community alone surrounded by seacowlake, nandi drive and scarped on a hill of informal settlements. We sleep at night hearing explosions from the industries being burned, gunshots from the highways, nandi drive and springfield park. Our children wake with shocks and fear. Everyone is going through this now in durban in some way or the other but we are feeling abandoned by the DA. We know your party is capable of great change and we have faith. But where is your man on the ground for us. My husband is an Old Boy from Northwood. I did my teaching pracs there and was present there teaching for two years. If what I know about being an old boy is admirable I am confident in your care and that you will answer me and help. As that is the calibre of what an old Northwood Boy is. I do hope something gets done about my community that voted DA. Not just for now but to better our dilapidating area that so badly needs someone who cares.
