I am an elder sister of an ID applicant who is in matric and is told at school she needs to have her ID when she writes her final exams this month (October 2021).

I am grieved not to be able to get help from the Department of Home Affairs following an application which was filed in January. Upon applying for the ID, we were told we need to do an unabridge before the ID application could be processed, of which we did. Each time we check on the progress of the unabridge certificate, the call centre consultants can not provide any assistance except telling us on the system it says the matter is under investigation. Ten months have passed and we still have no answers. It is incredibly difficult for my sister to apply for anything needing an ID as she is already 18.
